published 10 july 2026 · updated 21 july 2026 (cookies section: meta pixel added, consent-only)

1. who we are

This policy explains how Quack Competitions Ltd (company registration pending), Republic of Ireland (“Quack”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal data when you enter one of our free prize draws at quack.ie. We are the data controller for that data.

For anything to do with your data, or any question about this policy, contact us at quackcomps@gmail.com.

2. what data we collect

When you enter a free prize draw, we collect:

  • your full name
  • your email address
  • your mobile phone number
  • your date of birth, to confirm you are 18 or over
  • your Instagram handle, if you choose to give it, used only to verify a winner is following @quackcompetition

We also see your IP address at the point of entry. We use this briefly to rate-limit and block automated or abusive entry attempts. It is not stored as part of your entrant profile or used to build a picture of you.

3. why we use your data and our legal basis

purposelegal basis
administering your entry and running the drawperformance of a contract / legitimate interests
contacting and verifying you if you winperformance of a contract / legitimate interests
confirming you are 18 or overlegal obligation / legitimate interests
sending marketing about future competitionsyour consent, given separately at entry

4. marketing

We only send you marketing emails about future competitions if you have actively opted in to receive them. This is a separate, optional tick at entry, not a condition of entering the draw. If you do not opt in, we will not add you to our marketing list.

If you do opt in, every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing or by emailing quackcomps@gmail.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing we carried out before you withdrew it.

5. who we share your data with

We use a small number of service providers to run quack.ie and the draw. They process your data on our behalf, under their own data processing terms, and only for the purposes below. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertising networks.

  • Resend, to send your entry confirmation email and, only if you have opted in, to hold you in a marketing audience for future competition emails.
  • Neon / Vercel Postgres, to store entry data in a database hosted in the EU.
  • Vercel, to host the website and for the transient server logs generated by running it.

6. international transfers

Resend is based in the United States. Where your data is transferred there for the purposes in section 5, this happens under appropriate safeguards recognised under GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses. Our database with Neon / Vercel Postgres is hosted in the EU.

7. what appears in public

Only your anonymous entry (ticket) number ever appears on the public draw wheel on quack.ie. Your name, email, phone number and date of birth are never shown publicly.

If you win, we may announce it on the site and on our socials using your first name and county only, as set out in our terms and conditions.

8. cookies

quack.ie uses essential, technical cookies needed to serve the site. These load with no action from you and store nothing about you personally.

With your consent only, we also use the Meta pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd) to measure how our ads perform. It loads nothing unless you tap "sure" on the cookie notice; if you decline, or ignore the notice, the site stays pixel-free for you. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which makes the notice reappear. Details on how Meta processes this data: Meta's privacy policy.

9. how long we keep your data

We keep your entry data for the duration of the competition and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that we can verify the winner and deal with any query or dispute. After that, it is deleted.

If you have opted in to marketing, we keep your contact details on our marketing list until you unsubscribe.

10. your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • have inaccurate data corrected (rectification)
  • have your data deleted (erasure)
  • restrict how we use your data
  • receive your data in a portable format
  • object to our use of your data
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting any processing already carried out

To exercise any of these rights, email quackcomps@gmail.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission if you think we have not handled your data properly: dataprotection.ie.

11. changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and our competitions evolve. The version published here is always the current one.
